Game was great, taxis suck!
The game at Dolphin Stadium was incredible, as we flew down from the blustery cold of New England to watch our beloved Patriots take on the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We lost, but we still had a great time. Miami fans were friendly, and for the most part, we engaged in some good-hearted joking with them. The tailgating at Dolphin Stadium is great, with extra room behind your parking space so you can set up. The weather's usually great, so who can complain?
My only gripe was the taxi situation. Staying on South Beach (let's face it, the rest of Miami isn't really safe), we spent $50 on a cab to the stadium. When we asked staff where to catch a cab back, they directed us to a particular gate. However, a police officer at the gate was incredibly rude when I inquired about waiting for a taxi. After standing in line for 45 minutes with no cabs in sight, the same officer rudely informed us that there were no cabs and we needed to get moving. UNBELIEVABLE. As we walked along the road the stadium is on, there were murmurs of the Tire & Lube at the Wal-Mart being the place to go for a cab at Dolphin Stadium. Apparently, THAT'S where you go for a cab. I mean, of course! Why didn't I think of that?!!
Despite the taxi cab catastrophe, we had a great time and will be coming back for next year's game. GO PATS!!!
In conclusion, the people of Miami are great, but the cops are not. If you need a cab leaving the stadium, IMMEDIATELY head to the Tire & Lube at the Wal-Mart up the street.
